Consultation and Treatment Services

My goal is to provide you with help in the form of complementary and integrative medical care focusing on physical modalities, emotional support and spiritual guidance. I use a treatment strategy based on a unique, therapeutic approach founded on traditional Chinese medicine and classical Chassidic sources. Modalities can include acupuncture, herbal treatments, and training in prayer-based self-healing.

Treatment Structure

I offer a comprehensive holistic physical examination (and a separate comprehensive spiritual evaluation, when necessary). You may receive acupuncture sessions, herbal medicine, and instruction in proper nutrition.

In addition to medical services I can also provide community health education in the format of lectures and workshops.

Physical Treatments

Acupuncture & Moxibustion

Involves the placement of acupuncture needles and the placement of cups in standard acupuncture position as dictated by traditional Chinese medical diagnoses. Single-use, sterile, disposable needles are used exclusively. Moxibustion is the medical use of the mugwort plant to heat and stimulate qi and blood flow and boost immunity. Moxibustion is a critical component of Chinese medicine and invaluable for debilitated patients.

Nutraceuticals

Involves the prescription and use of mostly Chinese herbs in a freeze-dried, standardized format. I prescribe only the finest and most potent herbs. In fact these are the same herbs that are dispensed in Chinese hospitals. Western herbal therapies and nutraceutical supplements are also utilized as needed.

Spiritual Treatments

Through specialized spiritual approaches, including spiritual treatment and education, patients are encouraged to facilitate their own healing and recapture quality of life. I promote physical and spiritual healing in a way that creates authentic Divine consciousness.

Chassidic Healing Therapy

This program is based on the traditional Kabbalistic principles of the BaĠal Shem Tov. The goal is to align a person with all aspects of the self in order to achieve health and vitality.

Ya'akov Gerlitz, Dipl.Ac & C.H.

Ya'akov Gerlitz, Dipl.Ac & C.H., (bio) is Director of the Jewish Healing Foundation and was the former director of the Integrative and Traditional Chinese Medical Center at Nyack Hospital Cancer Center (affiliated with New York-Presbyterian Medical Center). He is an expert on Eastern medical philosophy and understands the movement of alternative and holistic medicine. He has training and clinical experience in Internal medicine with a strong emphases on oncology, auto-immune disorders, gastrointestinal disorders and pediatrics.

Ya'akov possesses experience applying spiritual care and integrating spirituality into health & healing in practical ways, as well as developing educational theory and approach for training health care professionals. He has transpersonal/spiritually-based therapeutic perspectives with experience counseling people with chronic and terminal illness.

An individual telephone session lasts 50 minutes. Initial session is $150.
